Well, here we go. We've all just heard of His Eminence Andy Kent's upcoming departure.... sad news for Blades fans in general. There really isn't anyone left at NDN that can fill that particular spot.
That being as it is, enter Everblade Central. Hopefully this will fill the void, and provide the vehicle for whatever venting, admonition, or praise that one feels the need to offer. There are only three rules: 1. NO racial slurs 2. NO porn links 3. NO exceptions.
We encourage all participants to resolve personal differences face to face. This is after all, a Hockey site. What good is a fight if we can't watch it?

MB and the crew here are hoping for a 911 type game to help shake the doldrums that have set in lately.
The fans need some spirited Blades play, and the Blades themselves need to have a dominating performance just to remember what it feels like.
This team has too much talent to allow what has happened so far. MB doesn't think it's all coaching. If the student is not willing, there is no amount of instruction that will change that. There does need to be strong leadership behind the bench tho, and some discipline. Not sure we have seen that yet.

I hear ya MB! I have a few choice words for the officiating lately!!! I really look forward to this new blog & can't wait to see everyone's {well almost everyone :) :)} true feelings come thru!
I think Nobili said it pretty well yesterday on the Coach's show when he said that this is a developmental league therefore the referees are "developing" as well. That being said, it doesn't mean we have to just sit back and take it up the ass when the officiating in a game sucks royaly. There should NOT be a "gag order" on coaches, players, team owners, fans, etc. - if the officiating was horrendous at a game then they should be allowed to say so. It's an OPINION anyway, so why not? BUT in that same vein, since this is developmental hockey then there had better be swift and sure CORRECTIONS being made by the ECHL for referees who can't quite "get with the program". Fix 'em or weed 'em out. If they want to move up to reffin' the AHL or NHL, they need to be proficient at this level. Therefore there needs to be more pressure to TEACH them to be better refs, right?
Amen EBG! Couldn't have said it better myself. I would love to see GF be a little more passionate out there! Players get fined & suspended for games frequently. I think refs should be held accountable for their actions & have the same things happen.

EBG you're right on about the officiating. Developmental, yes. But to develop, you must CORRECT, which means giving these refs like Sanborn and Warshaw a swift bitch-slap to bring them back in line...
Looking for some blood this weekend. I doubt we'll see it, but hopefully they will bring some BALLS and put the StinkRays back in their place.

We will also look into the "full screen" suggestions. In the meantime, the message window can be resized as desired by grabbing the bottom right corner of the window with your mouse and dragging it to the desired size.
The other option is less desirable, especially as posts are added. All comments appear on the same page as the posts, requiring scrolling. As new posts are added, each would go to the top of the page, making same-screen navigation very cumbersome.
If you look on the right side of the page under the logo, you will see "Archive", then "2007", then "February". If you don't see "February", then use the down-arrow to drop the list down. Select the title of the post you wish to read, and it will open in a new window with all comments following, much like the NDN blog.
You will be offered the option to post a comment at the bottom of the page. So you do have both options, depending on how you choose to read.
Maybe this will help until other items can be worked out. This is still under some construction, so please be patient.
The opening post has been edited just a bit, so we will put the changes here as well.

Hockey will die if it continues as it is. The NHL has become pussified, and it is filtering down to the "A" and the "E"...... Maybe when the $$$ run out, things will change to bring back the faithful....

GRAMPS I agree..... although I will say a brawl every night is not nesasarry it would be great to see every now and then... the new rules I can deal with but the hard hitting and fights need to come back. it is possible with the new rules but its just not happening... Bettman needs to go....

PFRANK I hear you!!! if you think about it a brawl every night would get boring. ball busting hits every night and a brawl every now and then is the perfect hockey game. I just hope we dont end up with another lockout.
BTW I'm glad to see all those cinder blocks have paid off. thats a heavy price to pay to get past the 3inch club.

hey all...I'm thinking Bruce is the Johnny "spaceman' Adams of the 06/07 season...racking up frequent flyer miles...if this keeps up we may not see Bruce on Germ ice next season if he decides to keep playing...best enjoy him while we have the opportunity...
The new rules stymied the game a bit, while players learned it's boundaries. As with any rule change more often than not those playing the game will revert to the farthest edge of the spectrum for that new rule, so as to not screw up. It's this "fear" that makes them play it safe - almost too safe sometimes. Hence the disappearance of a good majority of legal hits that used to be being taken without hesitation. It's my feeling that as time goes on you will see this all return as players learn they can push the envelope a little more. And it will also happen because, as you can see already, without at least a moderate degree of enforcement out there your finesse players will start dropping like flies.
I'm not convinced yet that hockey has gone "pansy" - players, coaches, and referees need some time to allow the game to morph before we will see how it all comes together (or not!). It will be at that point that I may or may not freak.....
Now fights are another story. I abhore a staged fight and see ab-so-lute-ly NO good that can come out of such a fight. WTF - what happened to a fight breaking out because someone jumped in to stand up for a team mate? Talk about an immediate morale booster and effective team bonder! But a fight just to fight does more damage than anything. Ho hum....wake me up when it's over...yawn....

Gratituitous fighting has always left me cold too, EBG... like the Kinkel fights at the start of the games. Proved absolutely nothing, sent no message, had little to no effect.
Save the ass-kicking for when it's needed. Our snipers are getting hammered, with an ice full of Blades just skating around with their thumbs up their asses. THEN is when someone needs to step up.
But that would require leadership, I suppose. Damn. Fresh out.
