Snowblind Friend

It is amazing to us here at Everblade Central how a young man should continue to pay for a mistake in terms of years. If the player in question is to be believed, this flirtation with cocaine was a "one-time" event. There is no indication whatsoever that he should not be believed.

Who among us hasn't committed some sort of indiscretion? Who of us hasn't broken the law in some way? We will not go so far as the "he who is without sin..." analogy, but you can see the similarities here.

Ricky Williams is banned from the NFL for a victimless crime. This offense did not prevent him from marketing his talent in Canada. Our Snowblind Everblade was suspended from a different league, so why should said suspension follow him to the ECHL? Has this young man failed a drug test in the ECHL? Has he even been tested?

By and large, his was and is a victimless crime. It is unknown if he has taken the ice while under the influence of "illegal" substances, but this is still the land of presumed innocence. If there is a doubt, test him. We believe he will pass any tests given.

The ECHL and the Everblades should not in our opinion penalize this player for past discretions.

Gameday 2/9/07 - Blades vs. Pensacola weekend

The Everblades enter this weekend's two game set against Pensacola with a record of 27-14-2, with 56 points. Pensacola brings up the rear of the American Conference South with the dismal record of 14-30-2, 30 points. It can be safely said at this point of the season that the IcePilots are out of contention for the playoffs, barring complete collapse by the Inferno, Stingrays, Checkers, and Lynx.

On paper, this bodes well for the Florida Everblades. In reality, this home set takes on some importance. Thus far, the Blades have played the Pilots 5 times with only 3 wins, one of the two losses coming in overtime. The IcePilots have been difficult for the Blades this season. This is a team the Everblades should beat handily, but for the lack of physical play by the Blades and the difficulty they seem to have at playing a full 60 minutes.

On the positive side, while the Pilots are carrying 6 healthy "D" men (notable names Jason Goulet and recent Everblade Niko Tuomi), several IcePilot skaters are down with illness, so the team will be skating very short. Now is the time to take whatever advantage can be had.

Kinkel is gone from the Blades, with the true reason still unknown. Speculation abounds, but it sounds good for Bill, so we wish him well. In the meantime, we have no protection for our smaller snipers.

Goodbye, Andy.... hello, Everblade Central

Well, here we go. We've all just heard of His Eminence Andy Kent's upcoming departure.... sad news for Blades fans in general. There really isn't anyone left at NDN that can fill that particular spot.

That being as it is, enter Everblade Central. Hopefully this will fill the void, and provide the vehicle for whatever venting, admonition, or praise that one feels the need to offer. There are only three rules: 1. NO racial slurs 2. NO porn links 3. NO exceptions.

We encourage all participants to resolve personal differences face to face. This is after all, a Hockey site. What good is a fight if we can't watch it?

Voice your opinions here. Be loud if you want, we will not moderate vulgarity or personal attacks. If you are here, you were invited. Should you NOT like what you see here, please feel free to uninvite yourself. Do not continue to read or participate if you are easily offended, thin-skinned, or sensitive. All posts critical of EC's contributors will be summarily ignored, or attacked outright within the comments.

Farewell, Andy. We wish you well. Now on to business.

This is the inaugural post, so jump in and introduce yourselves. This will remain until Friday (Feb. 9) to give everyone a chance to get acquainted and familiar with the new venue. After that, we will attempt daily entries, or at least when there is relevant news. If you have a friend that might enjoy this venue, please pass the information on to MasterBlade, so the proper invitations may be issued.

The Dark Side gathers here.
